Woman Allegedly Stabs Hubby, a Matatu Tout, 8 Times To Death In a Scuffle Over Ksh 20 Salt Money In Kisii

Kisii County police have detained a 22-year-old woman, Sheilla Nyanckoka Ombati, for allegedly stabbing her husband, Wesley Aringa Okindo, to death. The tragic incident took place in their home in Bonyakakomi village, where a dispute over Ksh 20 meant for buying salt escalated into fatal violence.

Okindo, 28, worked as a matatu tout, a common job in Kenya’s public transport sector. On Thursday night, he returned home, and an argument ensued between the couple.

According to police reports, the argument was over a trivial amount of money, just Ksh 20, intended for purchasing salt. This dispute quickly turned violent when Ombati allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband eight times in the chest.

Despite his injuries, Okindo managed to open the door and step outside their rental house. However, he collapsed a few meters away and died on the spot. The neighbors, alarmed by the commotion, called the police.

Officers from Ibeno Police Station, along with the Kisii Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), arrived promptly at the scene. They conducted a thorough investigation and processed the crime scene. The police recovered the kitchen knife, which was covered in blood stains, believed to be the murder weapon.

The body of the deceased was transported to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, Ombati was arrested and taken into custody.
