Musa Makanga, a former motorcycle taxi rider, found himself serving a life sentence for a crime he nevercommitted.

Makanga's ordeal began innocently enough when his friend, Hesbon Ng'ang'a, asked him to test a newly purchased phone.

Oblivious to any wrongdoing, Makanga inserted his SIM card into the device, only to be met with requests for a PIN and password he didn't possess.

Undeterred, Makanga took the phone to his sister's hotel for charging, hoping Ng'ang'a could provide the necessary credentials later.

However, a week later, Makanga's life took a drastic turn when he was arrested by three men accusing him of possessing a stolen phone.

Despite his protests and insistence that Ng'ang'a had given him the phone, his friend initially denied any involvement.

It wasn't until pressure from authorities mounted that Ng'ang'a confessed to his role in the situation. However, the confession came too late to spare Makanga from a life behind bars.

Now serving his sentence at Naivasha Maximum Prison, Makanga reflects on the painful lessons he has learned. He acknowledges the harsh reality that misplaced trust can lead to dire consequences.

Vowing never to handle another person's phone again, Makanga emphasizes the importance of caution and vigilance in a world where deceit can lurk around every corner.

Furthermore, Makanga calls for greater diligence on the part of law enforcement agencies to conduct thorough investigations before making arrests. He believes that such measures could prevent innocent individuals from suffering the same fate he did.
